By Feminine Harbor (other events)

4 Dates Through Dec 22, 2022

ABOUT ABOUT

Feminine Harbor and The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery present: The L.I.G.H.T. Stories.

4 women, of 4 different generations and 4 diverse cultural backgrounds, sharing real-life stories combined with beautiful live music. That’s the L.I.G.H.T. Stories: described as “The Vagina Monologues meets TED Talks, meets The Moth“.

Our next event is on Thursday, December 22nd. The storytellers will be sharing real and authentic stories about their lives, and focusing on Integrity: our storytellers are invited to ask the following question: how do you keep a sense of wholeness, in a world that is constantly trying to break you? Our lineup is beautiful, and you won't want to miss it with live music by Taisa Almada.

Doors open at 6:15 PM. The purchase of your ticket includes a free guided tour of The KW Art-Gallery's current exhibits, which starts at 6:30 PM. The LIGHT Stories will commence at 7 PM sharp.  Make sure to invite a friend!

For all the bios on the storytellers, check us out on Instagram and use #lightstories2022 to have your pictures and comments shared on our Ticket Leap event page!

So what is Feminine Harbor, the L.I.G.H.T. Stories, and how did it all begin?

L.I.G.H.T. is a human-paradigm, and an acronym for Love, Integrity, Guidance, Humanity, and Trust, which was developed by one of our co-founders, Carolina Pereira Miranda while studying female leadership during her Masters of Education.

Each one of our evenings uses one of these words as an overarching theme for the stories being told, except for Love. We believe that Love is what happens in the sharing and listening of the L.I.G.H.T. Stories. It’s undeniable that our world is in much need of light, so we decided to bring it to you like this: with beauty, with inspiration, with stories, with music, and fine arts.

Each one of the events highlights one of these themes: Trust, Humanity, Guidance, and Integrity. Except for Love... Our hope is that Love, in the form of self-love, and a true love for the stories being shared, and for other women, is present at all of our events.

Feminine Harbor promotes female voice and leadership through the Ethics of Care. We are a non-profit, multi-disciplinary, multi-media, and inclusive organization. Our goal is to empower women by shedding L.I.G.H.T. onto their narratives, adding their voices and experiences to the collective narrative of our world.

We are storytellers, artists, daughters, professionals, sisters, wanderers, mothers, writers, and grandmothers coming together. Men are always welcome at our events. We respect anyone who cares to listen to our stories, because they are also, in essence, your story.
